	Mortification entwickelte sich aus einer klassischen Metal Band namens Lightforce, welche 2 Alben in den späten 80ern aufnahm. Als das Lineup der Band 1989 auseinanderging beschloß Steve Rowe die Band in eine andere Richtung zu führen. Steve beschloß ebenfals zu singen und Bass zu spielen. Der Name Mortification wurde Ende 1990 ausgewählt, um den neuen Sound ein besseres Gewand zu geben. Mortification sind nicht altmodisch aber auch nicht "trendy". Sie fügen aber immer wieder neue und frische Einflüsse zu ihrem tradtionellen, extremen Sound hinzu. (von mortification.de)
